About Us
Our Founders
Mitch & Stephanie Bowen founded Hometown T1D after their hearts lead them to connecting with other parents of Type One Diabetics in the LC Valley. When they brought Addy home from the hospital, freshly diagnosed and with few resources and guidance of how to live this life, they quickly felt alone and want to help other's experiences be more positive with the transition to life with T1D.
Addy's Diagnosis Story
Just after Addy's 8th birthday, the Bowen's started noticing some strange symptoms that didn't seem like her normal, but they had chalked up to a growing child - nausea, drinking lots of water, and generally not feeling well. They went to the doctor, and soon after a blood draw, they were on the way to the hospital and prepped for a life flight to Sacred Heart in Spokane. After a brief 4 day stay in the Pediatric ICU, Addy was discharged and back to take on this new way of life.
Our Mission
Hometown T1D’s mission is to spread awareness, help support, educate, learn, and empower individuals and their families with Type 1 Diabetes in the LC Valley.
